The procedure of fission track dating is briefly reviewed and recent age and annealing results summarized. New measurements are reported on australites, obsidians, clearwater lakes glass and Darwin glass. Assuming that australites were formed in a single event, it occurred about two thirds of a million years ago and was contemporaneous with the formation of Darwin glass. By dating flanges it is shown that australites entered the Earth's atmosphere at this same time. It has now been found within the experimental accuracy of the techniques used that the following four glasses were formed at the same time as were the major groups of tektites: 1. (1) Darwin glass (fission track dating); 2. (2) Ries Kessel glass (K-Ar dating) 3. (3) Libyan glass and clearwater lakes, Quebec glass (fission track dating). It is concluded that assorted objects of widely different sizes dropped on Earth along with the tektite falls in Eastern Asia, Europe and America.
