The observation of a resonance in CeCoIn5 with inelastic neutron scattering has raised questions and debate on its origin. Recently it has been shown [1] that the transition to a ground state with coexisting Spin Density Wave (SDW) and dx2 -y2 -wave superconductivity under magnetic field is a corollary of the hypothesis of a collective spin excitation mode in a dx2 -y2 -wave superconductor. This provides a simple interpretation for the occurence of the puzzling high-field-low-temperature phase of CeCoIn5 which then represents a spin excitonic ground state in the unconventional superconductor. We discuss theoretical perspectives on the CeCoIn5 phase diagram and propose directions for future experiment.
