We show that ultracold atoms confined in a quasi-1d trap can be used to study
the dissipative spin-boson model with {\it tunable} tunneling splitting and
strength of dissipation. It is shown that with realistic parameters this system
allows to study the crossover from coherent Rabi dynamics to incoherent
tunneling.
