The ability to adjust individual parameters in global MHD models allows these models to be used as virtual laboratories to examine the effect of changes in outflow fluxes. The effect of oxygen on cross polar cap potential has been a topic of much discussion in the MHD modeling community. We show here the effects of ionospheric O+ outflow in the MFLFM multi-fluid MHD model. Utilizing idealized solar wind conditions and constant nightside auroral region outflow, we examine global effects of oxygen outflow. We demonstrate the correspondence of a buildup in O+ pressure in the plasmasheet with changes in magnetotail geometry and cross polar cap potential.
