Geomagnetic Field: Variations, Geomagnetic Field: History

Scientific paper

The author studies a "lingulian clay" core (age ≡255 million years) that shows seasonal laminations and determine the length of the time interval covered (≡3250 yr). The natural remanent paleomagnetism was determined by thermomagnetic relaxation. Variations with periods of ≡75, ≡275, ≡550, ≡1150, and ≡3600 yr were detected. The author discusses a model for the paleomagnetic secular variations based on the paleomagnetic data.
