Sunspot Numbers: Solar Activity Cycles

Scientific paper

A maximum T = 29 - 30 years has been detected as well as T = 22 years with about the same amplitude in the spectrum of yearly Wolf numbers in the frequency range corresponding to 20 year variations. Stability of both maxima for two parts of the common series (before and after solar cycle N. 10) is shown. Some suggestions on the origin of the second maximum are given. A conclusion is made that 20-year variations of Wolf numbers describe a nonstationary process.
