An X-ray survey of the central region of the Hyades cluster with the Einstein satellite has demonstrated that coronal type soft X-ray emission is a common property of the stars in the cluster. Of the 85 stars surveyed, about half have been detected. More than 80% of the F and G dwarfs are X-ray sources. Nineteen of these stars have been monitored both on short and long time scales. The observations may be explained by a large surface coverage of solar type active regions.
