We propose to observe three quasars with large CIV emission-line blueshifts to identify and characterize their intrinsic absorption. XMM-Newton spectroscopy will provide a crucial test of the hypothesis that large CIV blueshift quasars are viewed with an orientation angle close to the line-of-sight of a disk wind producing the UV emission lines. Of our three targets, two have already shown evidence for X-ray absorption from exploratory Chandra observations. The third target, PG 1259+593, offers the potential for the first detailed absorption study of this class of quasar.
