We report the first results obtained from the WINDMI-Magfield model. Steady magnetospheric convection (SMC) events in the recent solar cycle are studied using the model to understand their effects on the various energy reservoirs in the Earth's magnetosphere. The model employs the WINDMI model in conjunction with other empirical models to drive an analytical model of the magnetospheric magnetic field. The analytical magnetic field model is inspired by the Toivanen model of the earth's magnetic field (P.K. Toivanen, JGR10.1029/2006JA011815, 2007). The magnetic field is parameterized by geometrical input parameters which are used in the coordinate transformations in order to deform the initial dipole field response to geomagnetic conditions. In doing so we produce a time dependent magnetospheric configuration that will dynamically evolve corresponding to solar wind activity. The curl of the magnetic field configuration is calculated in order to follow the dynamical evolution of the magnetospheric current systems. Model results are compared with satellite and ground data, in a feedback mechanism to constrain the model parameters.
