We present here a simplified approach to the study of particle dynamics and fluid dynamics around rotating black holes. We show that with a suitably modified effective potential of the central gravitating rotating object, one can carry out these studies very accurately in Newtonian formalism provided the Kerr parameter remains within -1 ≤ a ≤ 0.8. We present the geometrical quantities useful to study the particle dynamics and the entire parameter space spanned by the specific energy and angular momentum from our potential and also compare it to the general relativistic result.
