An analysis of auroral and magnetic data indicates that torchlike structures of auroras are related to Ps6 geomagnetic pulsations. Model calculations show that these structures are projected on the equatorial plane of the magnetosphere over a distance of 5-10 earth radii from the earth. Existing explanations of the origin of such structures are examined.
