The influence of distance effects on the observed properties of nearby clusters of galaxies is studied by numerical simulations of a given cluster with fixed three-dimensional characteristics observed at different distances. The simulations, which take into account the conical rather than cylindrical projection of the nearby galactic cluster (distance 15 Mpc), and the effect of limiting magnitude sampling bias, show significant effects of distance on certain global and per galaxy type characteristics of clusters at distances not large compared to their radii. In particular, compared to remote clusters, the mean distance of galaxies in close clusters is less than that of the cluster barycenter, the number density profiles of all types of galaxies are significantly reduced, the slope and inflection points of the luminosity function are altered, and the observed mean line of sight velocity is greater than the theoretical mean velocity, due primarily to the greater observed velocities of spiral galaxies. It is suggested that a better solution for the three-dimensional velocity field may be approached by the simultaneous study of the morphological segregation and the difference in mean line of sight velocities of spiral and elliptical galaxies.
