The paper describes a method for determining plasma electron density and temperature according to the appearance of Langmuir oscillations at the commencement of electron injection from an electrically insulated probe into the plasma. The measurement of the oscillation frequency makes it possible to determine the density. An increase in the oscillation amplitude during the development of parametric instability, achieved by changing the energy of the injected electrons, makes it possible to determine the plasma temperature.
