Two simple methods for recognizing bright stellar objects in CCD images are described. A self-learning algorithm for direct recognition and position determination of faint, arbitrarily complex objects is presented. The method of composition with recentering is examined as an alternative method for obtaining long-time images and recognizing patterns. The methods are illustrated with examples, and their applications to amateur astronomy are considered.
