Topics presented include Sondrestrom and EISCAT radar observations of poleward-moving auroral forms, high-resolution measurements of magnetospheric electric fields, the regions of strongly enhanced perpendicular electric fields adjacent to auroral arcs, an attempt to derive energy spectra for auroral daytime precipitation events, and gyro line observations with the EISCAT VHF radar. Also presented are the estimation of ion velocity and temperature from asymmetric model incoherent scatter spectra, a theory for stimulated scattering of electromagnetic waves, the relationship between electron temperature and electron density under quiet conditions in the auroral zone, sudden sodium layers in polar latitudes, and the interference of tidal and gravity waves in the ionosphere and an associated sporadic E-layer.
