Nova, V5581 Sgr, Aavso International Database

A nova in Sagittarius was discovered by K. Nishiyama and F. Kabashima on 2009 April 21.711 UTC at magnitude 11.7 (unfiltered). Spectroscopy by Kinugasa et al. indicated a classical nova in the decline phase. E.Z. Kazarovets and N.N. Samus of the GCVS later designated the object as V5581 Sgr. Observations should be submitted to the AAVSO International Database.
