A nova in Centaurus was discovered by G. Pojmanski, D. Szczygiel, and B. Pilecki, using the ASAS data, on 2009 May 08.235 UT at magnitude 8.235 (ASAS V). Spectroscopy by A. Pigulski showed broad hydrogen lines consistent with a nova. E.Z. Kazarovets and N.N. Samus of the GCVS designated the object as V1213 Cen.
