By means of riometer observations, the occurrence of short-duration absorption events at Mirnyy, Antarctica has been investigated. The diurnal distribution of the events is found to change with the season, the majority occurring by night in winter but by day in summer. Most of these events appeared simultaneously at Mirnyy and at its magnetically conjugate region in the Arctic.
