Scientific paper

Variations of the meridional profile of the zonal atmospheric pressure during geomagnetic disturbances are investigated. The maximum effect is observed in a latitude region corresponding to the auroral and subauroral zones. Stratospheric modulation of solar radiation is considered as the mechanism regulating the transfer of energy to the lower atmosphere.
