Scientific paper

The complex magnetic rope structure of a very flare-active island δ group, AR 6891 (October 1991), is studied in high temporal and spatial resolution magnetograms, and white light images from Big Bear Solar Observatory and Huairou Solar Observing Station. The author compiles continuous photospheric magnetograms movie over a 8-day period (Oct 25 - Nov 1, 1991). More than 90% of the flares in this region occur at two neutral lines. Without exception, flares in the region are associated with the sheared photopspheric flows of flux rope. The author concludes that the shear motion of the flux rope in active region is a necessary condition for the triggering of a solar flare.
