This proposal is PARTLY a contingency to proposal 8494 {WFPC2 Lyman Alpha Check}, i.e., in case the analysis of that proposal shows that there is excessive Lyman Alpha contamination {decrease in throughput} for WFPC2. However, due to scheduling issues and because of the fact that the first observable flux standard serves its purpose for this test *MUCH* better than the second observable flux standard, STIS will observe {G140L spectrum} the first observable BEA flux standard {WD 1104+602} before it leaves its BEA window independent of the results of WFPC2 proposal 8494. A STIS G140L spectrum of the second observable flux standard {WD 0710+741} will also be taken to provide a baseline for any further contingency observations {to be discussed next}. If contamination is found by WFPC2 then STIS will also be used to verify contamination using the second observable flux standard {WD 0710+741} to find out whether the pick-off mirror or the OTA is affected. Also, WFPC2 will repeat t he Lyman Alpha Check observations. Several targets are included for WFPC2 to cover most possibilities in terms of the choice of final launch date.
