A method of integration over trajectories previously developed in an adiabatic approximation by two of the authors (Il'in and Osipov, 1980) is used to study the distribution of electrons of auroral energies along a geostationary orbit as a function of the potential difference of the magnetic field across the magnetotail, the lifetime of electrons in the magnetosphere, and the electron density distribution along the injection region. The portion of the orbit lying within the forbidden zone of auroral particles is found to decrease with increasing geomagnetic activity. Electrons with energies of 0.5 to 5 keV are rarely observed over portions of the orbit located in the midday to evening sector; greatest electron densities in this energy range are expected to occur in the evening-midnight-morning sector.
