Reaction forces due to the effects of graviational radiation are analyzed for elastic media in which mechanical forces dominate the gravitational forces, and in which the gravitational forces predominate. Equations of motion are derived within the framework of general relativity for an elastic medium with strong mechanical forces characterized by velocities much smaller than the speed of light disturbed by the gravitational radiation reaction force, and the variation of the energy of the post-post-Newtonian system is calculated. Equations of motion are then derived within the framework of the linear approximation of general relativity for the variation in the energy of an elastic medium in quasi-Minkowskian motion due to gravitational radiation reaction forces. Comparison of the two formulas deduced reveals them to be identical, despite the higher order approximations used in the second case.
