Numerical constraints on the amplification distribution function P(A) for multiple gravitational lensing are obtained based on flux conservation. These constraints on P(A) can be used as necessary conditions to judge the validity of distribution functions found by numerical simulation or analytically. Based on Poisson statistics and on the expansion of the mean amplification as a power series of optical depth, multiple lensing affecting the mean amplification is considered. It is pointed out that, within the limits of the present observational techniques (redshift smaller than 4), a thick lensing system involving three lenses is sufficient enough to describe light propagation in an inhomogeneous universe. However, it is also found that the lensing effect has been underestimated by previous works using only a single-lens approximation.
