Using the data set presented in Ortiz et al. (Icarus 117, 328-344, 1995) we further analyze some of the most outstanding changes from 1991 to 1993 in the saturnian atmosphere. For this purpose, limb-to-limb reflectivity scans at planetographic latitudes 0 deg, 10 deg, 20 deg, 40 deg, and 70 deg have been studied in terms of multiple scattering radiative transfer models. The large changes in reflectivity and methane absorption at equatorial latitudes from 1991 to 1993 are attributed to a considerable increase in the aerosol abundance at different levels within the extended tropospheric haze.
