The ST5 spacecraft were launched in the Spring of 2006, and acquired just over three months of high resolution magnetic fields data. Launched into a pearls-on-a-string configuration the three ST5 spacecraft were designed to resolve the temporal versus spatial structure of field-aligned currents (FACs). The spacecraft were launched into a sun-synchronous dawn-dusk meridian orbit, with apogee around 4000 km altitude. This orbit is similar to the FAST spacecraft, although the FAST orbit precesses through all local times. In early April 2006 the FAST spacecraft was also in a nominal dawn-dusk orbit, and several close conjunctions occurred between the ST5 and FAST spacecraft. These conjunctions allow us to also address the vertical structure of the field-aligned current signatures, in addition to the horizontal structure obtained from the ST5 spacecraft. We also take advantage of the FAST particle instruments to compare field-aligned currents as deduced from the magnetometer data with measurements of electron fluxes.
