We present an analysis of recent monitoring observations of the persistent black hole X-ray binary GRS 1758-258 obtained as part of the Galactic Center Region Key Program of the INTEGRAL mission. The observations span several three months long epochs between 2007 and 2009. We focus on constraining the parameter range of the hard spectral component of black hole sources in the hard state (see also contribution on Cygnus X-1 by K. Pottschmidt). This range is not yet well known, as it is difficult to measure to high accuracy for transient sources, but it is important to know for understanding the physics of the hot plasma of the jet and/or corona.
The microquasar GRS 1758-258 is one of only three persistent black hole binaries that spend most of their time in the hard spectral state. It also spans a larger parameter space in the hard state than the prototype Cygnus X-1, varying by a factor of two in its average 20-40 keV flux during the observations. We present long term lightcurves and an analysis of the evolution of the spectral parameters (empirical as well as based on thermal Comptonization) obtained from modeling the epoch averaged spectra, also including several snapshots with Swift. In addition we discuss the behavior on shorter timescales using the hardness-intensity diagram.
