An apparatus used in the investigation of meteor activity, which employs sa system of protection against pulse interference, is described. sPreliminary results of the measurement of meteor velocities obtained by sRussian observation stations during the first 12 months of the sInternational Geophysical Year are presented, and a study of the sphysical properties of the atmosphere at altitudes of 80 to 100 skilometers is made.
