We have initiated a project to diagnose the intertwined processes of gas heating, dust settling and chemical processing in a set of well-characterized disks around T Tauri stars. We have developed detailed models describing gas and dust evolution in accreting disks irradiated by X-ray and UV photons. These models are tested by molecular diagnostics obtained with (sub-)millimeter interferometers. However, detailed X-ray spectra are not yet available for many of these objects. Here, we request observing time to obtain X-ray spectra from several disk-harboring T Tau stars at various inclinations, which will allow to measure gas-to-dust ratios and provide important input to our chemical and turbulent models of circumstellar disks.
