We propose the intensive observation of the galaxy cluster A1413 to gain the first precise observational description of the outskirts of a galaxy cluster in order to investigate the physics at play in these external regions and to provide the first X-ray observational constraints on the limit of virialization and thermalization of clusters, on the feedback due to galaxy formation, on the dynamical and thermodynamical states of the accreted material from the cosmic web. Based on existing XMM-Newton observations, we calculate that the required exposure time to achieve the scientific goals of our project is 600 ks. We therefore ask for an additional 450 ks to complement the 150 ks awarded in AO6.
