We present a study of UV and optical spectra of the active galaxy Fairall 9. We have measured the Lyα/C IV , Lyα/Hβ and Hα/C IV and Lyα/Hβ ratios at the different velocities in the line profiles. Modeling with the photoionization code CLOUDY shows that the observed line ratios can be accounted by two system of clouds. We discuss the possible geometry of the BLR in Fairall 9.
