Low-metallicity (1/20th - 1/50th solar) dwarf galaxies have the potential to greatly enhance our understanding of the galaxy formation process by providing a close-up view of relatively young, un-evolved systems. Unfortunately, despite concerted efforts, very few such galaxies have been discovered. We propose to obtain spectra of ~ 100 potential low-metallicity galaxies with the GoldCam spectrograph on the 2.1 m. These galaxies have been selected via their H(alpha) emission from the KPNO International Spectroscopic Survey (KISS). By observing the low-luminosity (M_B > -16.5) end of this sample we will be targeting galaxies with a strong possibility of being low-metallicity objects via the metallicity-luminosity relation. These low-Z galaxies will also help us measure the primordial helium abundance and calibrate the relationship between [OII](lambda)3727 luminosity and star- formation rate.
