The (gamma) Doradus stars are a newly-discovered class of variable star exhibiting high-order, low-degree, gravity mode oscillations at and beyond the cool edge of the (delta) Scuti instability strip. This new class of variable star has recently been defined by Kaye et al.(1998a). At this point, 45 objects reside on the ``Master List of (gamma) Doradus Stars" of Handler and Krisciunas (1998); 20 of these are observable using the coude feed telescope at KPNO. A proper understanding of the pulsation mechanism depends on knowing the location of each (gamma) Doradus variable in the HRD, being careful to include the oft-ignored third dimension of this diagram, metallicity. From these observations, we hope to investigate the nature of the (gamma) Doradus phenomenon by searching for systematic differences in the abundances of these stars compared to normal stars. Recent suggestions concerning gravitational settling and radiative levitation of elements will be tested by our analysis, and a better understanding of the physical mechanism driving the pulsations in these stars will be achieved.
