The Pamela experiment is the central part of the Russian Italian mission program for the measurement of the cosmic-ray spectra and the search for antimatter. The Pamela magnetic spectrometer consists of six planes of double sided silicon detectors inserted into a permanent magnet. The design of the silicon tracker aims at reaching two main goals: mechanical robustness of the structure, which must survive the stresses during the launch, and the measurement of the charge and the momentum of the incoming particles as precisely as possible. Tests, on a telescope consisting of five ladders, performed with a 4.5 GeV beam, show an excellent spatial resolution and a good signal-to-noise ratio.
