Low energy electrons and protons in the high latitude magnetosphere are analyzed using the Heos-2 satellite. Plasma propagation in various parts of the magnetosphere are observed to vary according to tailward flow along field lines. In the entry layer and plasma mantle, ion bulk motion is directed along geomagnetic field lines. In the cusp, there is virtually no bulk motion at all. Attention is given to the topology of the plasma regions and to the thermal anisotropy of the subatomic particles.
