Three possible mechanisms for nonlinear saturation of ion-acoustic instability are discussed: (1) wave mediated wave-particle interaction; (2) scattering of ion-acoustic waves by steady state density fluctuations; and (3) resonant wave-modified particle interaction. Values of anomalous plasma conductivity obtained in the study are used to estimate the magnitude of magnetic field gradients in the magnetically neutral sheet of the solar corona. Results are compared with Skylab data.
