An analysis was conducted to obtain a formula relating the magnetic-field-aligned current to the properties of the plasma flow under certain restrictions. Equations of magnetodynamics are used as a set of constraints imposed on the V (velocity) and B (magnetic) fields in order to obtain the desired formula. The solar wind plasma is taken as an example of the medium which may be approximated by the present model. It is tried to express the value of the current i as a function of the local values of parameters which are, at least in principle, accessible to typical satellite measurements or which may be deduced from the models of plasma flow based on these measurements.
