Based on a new correlation of seismic velocities and activation energy for creep of crustal rocks some tentative viscosity-depth profiles are presented. These profiles show certain correlations to velocity-depth profiles and indicate possible zones of detachment from their low-viscosity zones. Such zones are situated at the base of the upper (granitic or gneissic) crust and at the base of the (gabbroic? or granitic?) lower crust.
