The north-south asymmetry of sunspots during solar cycles 14 - 20 is studied. The cycle change of the module of the value of the north-south asymmetry of sunspot areas (revealed earlier by the author) that takes place in the antiphase of their 11-year cycles, is confirmed. This regularity is not manifested clearly for the values of the asymmetry regarding the excess of activity of the separate hemispheres of the Sun. On the basis of the received results the conclusions are made on the close interrelation of the north and south hemispheres, about their connection with deep layers, on the uniformity of the cycle process in them and on the deep nature of this process on the whole.
