We propose to use 11h of MIPS guaranteed time to re-image infrared echoes around the prototypical supernova remnant Cassiopeia A which have been recently discovered by our team. Combining these new observations with our previous maps opens up the unprecedented opportunity to map the three-dimensional structure of the general interstellar medium around Cas A with high spatial resolution. This unique insight to the structure of the ISM will provide new constraints for models of turbulence and fragmentation of interstellar material. In addition, the structure of the ISM is an important input to radiative transfer models for obscured sources, which we will work to improve.
