This is a thesis submitted to university of Pune, India, for the Ph.D.
degree. This work deals with entanglement production in two qubit, two qutrit
and three qubit systems, entanglement in indistinguishable fermionic systems,
quantum discord in a Heisenberg chain and geometric measure of quantum discord
in an arbitrary state of a bipartite quantum system.
