Iron Meteorites:Evolution
Scientific paper
The objectives of this study are (1) to explain the elemental distributions observed in various iron meteorite groups using the composition profiles measured in laboratory Fe-Ni alloys solidified by a plane front solidification technique, (2) to measure the distribution coefficients for Ni, P, Ir, Ge, and Cu as a function of the S and P contents in Fe-Ni alloys, and (3) to use these coefficients in the calculation of elemental distributions within a chemical group of iron meteorites.
