The encounter of ESA's spacecraft Giotto with comet Halley has provided a wealth of data concerning the distribution of dust grains throughout the coma. Analysis of dust impacts from Kent's Dust Impact Detection System (DIDSY) flown on board Giotto provides an understanding of the physics of cometary dust dynamics, the grain mass distribution and the behaviour of the nucleus of this primordial body.
