We have detected continuum emission of hard x-rays from a source in the LMC region which includes SN1987A. The detection reported here, if interpreted as coming entirely from SN1987A, indicates that during the interval from day 180 to day 249 the source increased significantly in intensity and its spectrum hardened. This is qualitatively consistent with theoretical models.
