Spot diagrams provide a good understanding of the representational quality of an optical system. The principle of spot diagramming is explained. An electronic computer can be used for the calculations, because each ray is calculated the same way. With a plotter attached, the spot diagrams can be drawn immediately. Spot diagrams are presented for parabolic, spherical, oblique, and three Cassegrain mirrors (classical Cassegrain, Dall Kirkham, and Ritchey-Chretien).
