An analysis of Gorky data obtained during the 1982-1984 winter periods confirms previous findings on the winter anomaly. Individual groups of days were identified during which N(h) profles measured for the same solar zenith angles differed only slightly. Finally, an investigation of variations of N as a function of LT showed that short-term fluctuations of electron density distorting the normal diurnal behavior of this parameter are observed in the winter in the lower ionosphere.
