It is known that the waveguide propagation of whistlers can occur in regions of elevated ionization extended along magnetic field lines in the magnetosphere. The present paper gives a theoretical description of the escape of whistlers from these waveguide ducts, caused by the curvature of the magnetic field lines. The results are analogous to those obtained by Gurevich (1979) for LF waves.
