The option of using the diffraction spikes of bright stars for
calibrating the Medium Band Photometer is rediscussed using realistic
models of the PSF. The conclusion is that the steepness and asymmetries
mean that this method cannot stand alone, and the use of gates to assist
the measurements should be studied.
