Measurements of Venus atmospheric hydrogen and deuterium Lyman-alpha airglow lines will be conducted using the STIS FUV echelle mode and a long slit. It is desirable that the long slit cross the bright limb as close to the equator as is feasible and be as perpendicular to the sunlit crescent limb as is feasible - subject to the restrictions associated with a Venus pointing - in order to measure altitude variations of relative D/H emission rates. The objective is to determine the abundance and distribution of deuterium in the upper atmosphere of Venus.
