The erroneous electron energy loss rate of Brown et al. (1983), used in their interpretation of multi-spacecraft hard X-ray observations, is corrected. The inference of column depth in the occulted source is repeated, mostly with only slightly different results. Additionally, it is pointed out that the relativistic dependence of velocity on kinetic energy may produce a high-energy hardening of the electron flux, which could help to reconcile observations and theory.
